SSAB Group

Daniel and I were colleagues at SSAB for several years, and at the end I was also his manager. I have seen Daniel successfully merge the Swedish and Finnish IP organizations when SSAB and Finnish Rautaruukki joined forces. He mapped, evaluated and merged the Swedish and Finnish parts into a cohesive IP portfolio. Likewise, he merged the two separate departments with two different strategies into one co-operating and global team with clear roles, processes and goals.

Daniel and his team developed a common direction and strategy for how IP should be managed within the SSAB group, raised awareness within the group of what IP is and the supportive function of the IP team. In addition, he built a structure and process for how the group's IP company SSAB Technology AB would acquire, own, protect and license IP within and outside the group.

Daniel's creativity, openness and ability to simplify the complex, make him excellent for driving and implementing change and building sustainable structures. His people skills also make him a committed and clear leader. Daniel's determination drives him to complete anything he initiates.

Merlin Wright Associates

I have known and worked with Daniel Moe for over eight years, during which time I have found him to be an exceptional sounding-board and support in the work we carry out.

Of particular note relates to his ability to cut to the heart of a complex IP-related business matter and provide a clear view for a non-patent attorney to understand. His career move to SSAB could be considered as an example of this, and very much akin to an interim posting. Daniel had clear intentions of how he wanted to shape the department strategically, improve the internal processes and then hire the right successor to take it forward.

Daniel has a sharp mind and common-sense approach and I thoroughly enjoy working with him and counselling his opinion on matters relating to our open recruitment positions. Furthermore, he is engaging, charismatic and possesses a high level of emotional intelligence.

I engaged Daniel to together with PRV lead a workshop within the project called VIP4SME, Value Intellectual Property for SMEs.

The main goal of the VIP4SME project is to sustainably enhance Intellectual Property support services to SMEs in order to allow them to understand the value of the intellectual capital they create and own, and to define strategies and management practices allowing them to better turn this capital into commercial values and competitiveness.

His combined experience from all three perspectives of IP as Head of IP at a large company, IP attorney at an IP law firm and Examiner at the Swedish Patent Office, made him suitable to lead a part of the workshop to connect the legal and business aspects of IP.

our story

Moerrow IP boutique, founded in 2018 by Daniel Moe, located in Stockholm, manages intellectual property.

Daniel’s experience from capture, protection, ownership and commercialization of IP has not only provided him with an in-depth understanding of the legal aspect, but also and more importantly, of how to monetise the IP.

In 2001, Daniel Moe started as a Patent examiner at the Swedish Patent and Registrations Office in Stockholm. He joined AWA in 2006 as an IP consultant. In 2013 he moved to SSAB group as Head of IP and CEO of IP company SSAB Technology AB. The main focus was to change IP culture, structure and processes by raising awareness, and to create a professional IP management function.
